“We wouldn’t be the first life form to wipe itself out. But what would be unique about us is that we did it knowingly.” Age of Stupid
10:10 is an ambitious project to unite every sector of British society behind one simple idea: that by working together we can achieve a 10% cut in the UK’s carbon emissions in 2010.
We've made a commitment to reduce our carbon emissions by 10% in 2010. We assess each activity individually, such as travelling to meetings and craft fairs, events and marketing, office waste and energy use, then decide how we can improve it.
Events:
Every event should be mindful of its carbon footprint, but an eco event has a special responsibility to show what can be done with just a little thought.
Green Marketing:
We support green marketing and communicate - as much as possible - through networks, both local and online.
Although we print a small stock of leaflets and posters, we talk directly to our community and ask them to pass our message on.
Communications with vendors, suppliers and clients are mostly undertaken online. When meetings are necessary, we choose a central location, easily accessible by public transport.
Posters and Banners:
We design smaller posters (A4) and leaflets (A6). We limit print runs and use an eco-printer and FSC-certified paper.
Banners are made by hand by one of our designers, using waste materials sourced locally.
Recycling:
We recycle all paper and plastics. We have swap events to share unwanted materials and media.
We're keen to investigate product design, manufacture and lifespan. It's a huge task, and maybe it's too big for such a small enterprise as Frugal Cool. However, we have an aspiration and we promise to pass on our learning to designers and customers in the hope of influencing behaviour and culture.
